I’ve got some very exciting news. I have been named a finalist in the Clever Copywriting School Awards. The categories I’m in are Content Writer of the Year and Copywriter of the Year. So what does it all mean?

This is the inaugural Clever Copywriting School Awards. Most awards are for big shiny agencies or big brands. These awards were set up for freelance and small business copywriters to be recognised.

Content Writer of the Year

Content writer of the year is for any content writer who is running a business focused on providing content writing services to clients. This includes feature articles, freelance journalism, social media content and any other content writing they may be conducting.

Judges were looking for content writers who could demonstrate a strategic approach to:

  • developing and marketing their skills,
  • securing new clients,
  • managing client relationships, and
  • building a sustainable and profitable business.

Copywriter of the Year

Copywriter of the Year is for any copywriter who is running a copywriting business focused on providing copywriting services to clients. This includes copywriters across the disciplines of SEO copywriting, business writing, award writing, grant applications, blog writing, speech writing and advertising materials.

Judges were looking for copywriters who could demonstrate a strategic approach to:

  • developing and marketing their skills,
  • securing new clients,
  • managing client relationships, and
  • building a sustainable and profitable business.

The award ceremony is at the CopyCon conference on the 15th October, where I’m also presenting. Wish me luck!
