I embarked on my journey as a ‘this is my only job’ freelance writer nearly eight years ago. I started working for myself because I’d finished my work contract, had a new babe in arms and didn’t want to send her to daycare yet. But I knew I wanted something for myself that wasn’t making snacks and changing nappies.

Back then, I simply called myself a freelance writer, operating under my name because, well, I couldn’t think of anything else. But let’s be honest—being a writer with the last name Wright was practically begging for something more creative, right?

In those early days, I was just dipping my toes into various writing opportunities. I took on projects of all kinds, learning, growing, and finding my voice in the process. But as the years passed, I evolved. I became passionate about writing for caring industries, like aged care, healthcare and baby care. I began to realise that I was more than just a freelance writer. I was building something bigger, something that needed its own identity.

As my skills and experiences expanded, so did the way I saw myself professionally. I evolved from being “just” a freelance writer to wearing many different hats—SEO Copywriter, Journalist, Business Owner, Content Strategist. Each role added a new layer to my expertise and brought me closer to understanding the value I could offer. My work was no longer just about putting words on a page; it was about crafting stories, building brands, and driving business results.

This evolution naturally led me to rethink my business name. The name you start with isn’t always the name you keep, especially when you grow into something more significant. And so, after nearly eight years, I felt it was time to give my business the glow-up it deserved.

Introducing TheWrightWords

It’s still me—I’ve kept my name in the logo, after all—but this new identity feels fresh, fun, and ready to take on the next phase. TheWrightWords represents not just my love for writing, but also my commitment to helping others find the right words for their stories, brands, and messages. It’s a name that aligns with the work I do and the values I hold dear.

Of course, this transformation didn’t happen in isolation. A huge shoutout goes to Angela Chen from ohragnar for being part of this journey with me. From the original design years ago to today’s iteration, she’s been there, helping to bring my vision to life. Rebranding is never just about a new name or logo—it’s about reflecting who you’ve become and where you’re headed. And having the right creative partner by your side makes all the difference.

So, what do you think of TheWrightWords? I’m excited to continue this journey with a brand that feels authentically me, and I can’t wait to see where it takes us next. Here’s to new beginnings, continued growth, and finding the perfect words to tell our stories.

Thanks for coming along on this journey with me! ✍️
