It’s hard to believe another year has flown by. As I sit down to reflect on 2024, I’m blown away by the sheer variety of projects, collaborations, and personal milestones that have shaped the past 12 months.

Late last month I did a Power Planning Day with business strategist Michelle Broadbent. I got together with like-minded women in business to reflect on 2024 and plan what I want from 2025.

It made me realise that this year has been a whirlwind of creativity, connection, and growth with a fair few ups and downs. But I’m hopeful for 2025 and am looking forward to many more exciting things to come.

Here’s my 2024 Year in Review for TheWrightWords.

My professional highlight

The standout moments of 2024 was rebranding my business to TheWrightWords. This rebrand was in part symbolic. After 8 years in business, I felt like a change. I’d been trading under my name Caitlin Wright but I wanted my business to be more than just me.

This fresh identity reflects the growth and evolution of my work over the years, combining creativity with a clear, impactful purpose. Also with my youngest child going to school in 2025, I felt like now was the time to think bigger.

I knew I wanted to incorporate Wright somewhere in the name (I mean, it’s the best name for a writer, am I right?!). So after some deliberation, I registered TheWrightWords and I refreshed my logo with my graphic designers Oh Ragner.

To complement my rebrand, I refreshed my website with a new look and feel. I wanted to make it more user friendly and align it with my vision of creating thoughtful, engaging content.

These updates have set the stage for an even more exciting 2025, with a stronger connection to both new and existing clients.

My year by the numbers

This year has been one for the books, literally and figuratively. Here’s a snapshot of some of the projects I’ve delivered in 2024:

  • 6 ‘big projects’ – white papers, annual reports, summary reports for medical round tables
  • 58 articles with hundreds of interviews – topics ranging from medical news, health, education, disability and aged care
  • 29 clients – from sole traders to multinational corporations
  • 16 websites – ranging from one or two pages to some mammoth websites

Each project came with its own unique challenges and rewards, and I’m proud of how they all came together to deliver meaningful results for my clients.

What I’ve worked on

One of my favourite things about my work is the variety, no two days are the same. Here are a few standout projects and themes from the year:

  • Health and Medical Writing: I explored important issues like ADHD prescribing practices for Australian healthcare professionals and the elimination of hepatitis C. These projects reinforced my passion for translating complex medical information into accessible, impactful content. I’ve also attended a few medical roundtables and written some pharmaceutical websites so it’s been a year of broad professional experiences.
  • Disability and Aged Care: I’ve dived into the new NDIS legislation and the upcoming changes to the Aged Care Act recently. I continued to help providers connect with their audiences through clear, compassionate communication and using the power of storytelling.
  • Education and Parenting: I’ve continued to work with schools on their magazine content and am working with some universities writing content for their websites. On the lighter side, I shared relatable stories and advice about being a working mum.
  • Content and SEO Strategy: I’ve helped a wide variety of clients refine their LinkedIn strategies, optimise their websites for SEO, and created blogs that truly resonated with their audiences.

The personal ups and the downs

A big goal for 2024 was been carving out time for myself and I’ve done pretty well. I’ve played football consistently (currently twice a week), Pilates once a week and have been attempting to increase running. I even took part in a Tough Mudder adventure in August with some friends where I learned that I definitely need to keep working on my arm muscles!

However late in the year, a member of our extended family got sick and passed away only weeks later. This has rocked us to our core and the year has ended quite differently to how we expected.

So while 2024 has seen many wonderful moments, it’s a year that I’m ready to see the back of. And I know I’m not alone.

I’m looking forward to taking a few moments to rest, recharge and look at 2025 with fresh eyes.

I wish you all a Happy Holidays.
